The Laurels Guest House is a charming Borders bed and breakfast situated in the beautiful Scottish market town of Hawick. The town is set in the heart of Teviotdale, and is known the world over for its fine knitwear, sheepskin and woollens. |
|
The annual Common Riding, or riding of the bounds, is a local Border custom, which used to take place in many local towns, and now few including Hawick, Selkirk and Lauder keep the tradition alive.
This ancient tradition was a means to protect the town from attack, as the Borders were a greatly disputed area between Scotland and England for many centuries. Today it is purely ceremonial and great fun for all the family.
This charming Borders bed and breakfasts is very welcoming, and very centrally located in Hawick, just five minutes walk from the town centre. In fact the Teviotdale leisure centre, with sports facilities, a gym and a pool is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

There are three en-suite bedrooms, one delightful double, and two lovely twin rooms, all have Freeview TV and clock radios. Should you require it there are hairdryers and ironing facilities available, and a fabulous full Scottish breakfast awaits you in the morning.
If you don't feel like going out in the evening after a long day of exploring the delights of the Borders, Scotland and Northumberland, then you could request an evening meal too at The Laurels.
